Good for beginners? Yes. Black Raven ZZ is just as forgiving as the standard ZZ Plant. It tolerates low light, extended drought, and neglect without complaint. The dark color develops naturally over time — no special care required.

Light needs: Adaptable to low, medium, or bright indirect light. It survives in very low-light rooms. Brighter indirect light encourages faster growth and the deepest, most dramatic black coloring on maturing leaves. Avoid direct sun.
Care at a glance: Water only when the soil is completely dry. Its water-storing rhizomes make it extremely drought-tolerant. Feed once or twice during spring and summer. Note that new leaves emerge green — the near-black color develops gradually as they mature.
