This is a wonderful quality full length black silk velvet 1930s opera coat.  This 1930s opera coat features matching rope-like ties that wrap around the shoulders of the coat and tie at the centre neck.  The fabric is gathered at the shoulder in tucks so that it drapes through the bodice, front and back.   The skirt of the coat is cut with a wide flare to the hemline, so that it has a lovely sweep.  The waist is defined with a seam and closes with a matching covered button.  The neckline closes with a hook and eye.  The coat is fully lined in white taffeta.

Age:  this 1930s opera coat dates to the late 1930s

Label: Only a National Recovery Board Consumers Protection label.  This label was instituted by the FDR White House in 1938 and was used through the 40s and 50s into the 60s.

Material: Silk velvet.  Beautiful quality, very soft

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this 1930s opera coat should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fabric and the style of the coat into account:

Shoulders: 18” across, seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2” long, from shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  19 1/2”

Bust: 38” around

Waist:  32” around

Hemline:  94” around

Overall length: 60 1/2“

Condition: This 1930s opera coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour.  The only issue is that the roping around the shoulders is unstitched in a small area at the left front, an easy repair, if desired.  It looks to have seen very little use and was well stored over the years.

This is a fabulous example of 1930s opera coat - gorgeous fabric, beautiful full length style....sure to be noticed!

My son didn’t enjoy reading independently before this book
Format: Paperback
My son is 7, in 2nd grade. I got him this book in his Easter basket. Tonight he voluntarily picked it up, read the first chapter, was laughing, and then told me about it!! He’s never voluntarily picked up and read a chapter book before other than a graphic novel ! :)

the world needs more books like this!
Format: Kindle
Wholesome books for young growing readers, yes please! It’s a great mix of funny and sweet that any kid will love. I love seeing the characters grow from the unicorn and dinosaurs books. I love that they are real children too. It’s a great message for kids!

‘Was Nugget’s power guiding me to help people?’ – a fantasy tale to cherish!
Format: Kindle
Diane Alber teams with Ryan Thomas in creating their PURPLE SPACE CHICKENS series, books that focus on inspiring art and creativity in children. The characters (both human and animal) sparkle throughout and the authors open with a taste of the fun to come introducing the boy Bear: ‘My name is Bear…It’s a code name I gave myself. Why a code name? Well, everyone in this book has one. Trust me, it’s better that way. I don’t want you knowing who I really am because the last thing I need is NASA asking a dozen questions - or worse, taking my little friend. But I had to document everything, because this experience is straight out of this world…literally.’ And with that intro we meet little chicken Nugget and the story sails forth with an amazingly entertaining and creative plot. There are many attributes to this series intended for grade school kids – one fine chapter book stories that will definitely continue!

Yes. definitely yes.
Format: Kindle
Rounding up from 4.5. This was a great read and has earned the title of my second favorite sapphic fantasy behind Aurora’s Angel. (Granted, there isn’t a huge amount of competition.) The two main characters are well written and there is plenty of swoon to keep you happy. It’s a slow burn (which I love) and it was done very well. The author keeps you riding on the excitement of what is to be. The longing looks, the subtle touches, the loaded dialogue. It was all great. Each interaction brought the two MCs closer together in such a sweet way. The plot was a good one and keeps you entertained without being overdone or making you too anxious. The book is well written and uses some period language (which I appreciate) without being too pretentious. It is well paced and flows very well from one scene to the next. No boring parts to suffer through. The reason for the missing half star: There were parts that I felt could have used more finesse, or maybe more explanation concerning Della’s insistence on seducing Galeon. The passion was there but it seemed like Della was being reckless at times. But maybe that was the point. I also wished that some of the supporting characters were a little more fleshed out. I wanted to know more about them. It doesn’t get nearly as deep into any aspect the way Auroras Angel did, but I don’t consider that a bad thing per se. It’s just a shorter and lighter read without as much depth. But still enjoyable Overall, this was a great book and I look forward to the future installments. Definitely recommend.

Will definitely be reading the second independent book in this series!
Format: Kindle
A slow burn fantasy novel that showcases the finer instances of romantic gestures and quick stolen glances in between the big showy, epic events. Once I picked up the book I could not put it down until I completed it fully. It was easy to get attached to the characters and I was happy that they didn't try to fit a hetero normative and instead felt to be a truly sapphic/queer relationship. The ending had me at the edge of my seat! While very immersive and easy to get sucked into the world built, I think what would take this to the next level would be more detailed world building. I found I yearned most for this book to get into the nitty gritty of describing and bringing to life the horrific transformations of the witches. I also felt some of the dialogue was a bit too modern which took me out of the older fantasy setting this story was set in for a second. Overall a great book that was easy to allow yourself to get immersed in and tugged around emotionally along with the characters. Loved it!!
