Had experience with a different brand of electric corkscrew in the past 8 years or so . . . the first 2 worked pretty well (they tended to poop out with fairly heavy use after 3 years), but the most recent one was a disaster & shredded corks and worked so badly from the outset that I went back to a manual corkscrew, even for very hard composite corks. This one is a delight to use . . . you only have to touch the lever (bottom for opening, top for releasing the cork), and this little gem just WORKS WELL!! It also has a smaller footprint than most (which is a plus) & looks pretty sharp. The only slightly potentially challenging aspect is setting up a mini-usb to power source to charge this one (but most use that now, anyway, so that shouldn't be a big problem).
